Greyhound Statue

I've been eyeing a greyhound statue at my local Home Goods for a few months now. And every time I see it again, I love it more.

At first, it seems a bit odd...I mean who really displays a greyhound statue in their house? But a closer look reveals the smooth curves and clean appeal of the shiny white porcelain statue. The white color also allows the greyhound to live in almost any room of the house – the entryway, the living room, maybe even the bathroom.  Unexpected loveliness.

Wonder how our new puppy will react to a dog statue (considering she plays with her own reflection in the mirror).

Here are some more expensive versions I found online.  But check a Home Goods near you first!

Row 1: (1) Greyhound Sculpture, $850, www.maisonluxe.net (2) Ceramic dog sculpture, $429, Neiman Marcus

And here are some adorable greyhounds being used appropriately as home decor.

Fashion Trend: Lace

Whether it’s a full-lace scarf or a lace-trimmed cardigan, lace is popping up all over the place. From stockings to skirts, it’s bound to make it into your closet in some way. I don’t know if I love this trend, but I do like the items that feature lace as a trim or accent. What do you think – trend to follow or trend to avoid?

Polaroid Art

Oh the original 3" X 3 1/8" Polaroid photo...so cute and fun, but kinda small and easily lost when displayed on a large wall.  That is, unless you clutter lots of Polaroid photos together.  And mount them together on a canvas frame.  Instant transformation to a large work of art and a strong statement on any wall.

Bar Display for Bottles

Last weekend, I was browsing the latest Potterybarn catalog, when I came across this picture.

It wasn’t the console table that I loved, but rather the way the prop stylist decided to display the alcohol bottles.  What a simple and stunning way to display all of your party bottles for the guests to select from, without looking trashy or cluttered.

Need: one clear tall acrylic box/vase (like this one) and ice. Done.

Sparkles on a Ribbon

This year, the sparkly necklaces did not disappear with sparkly holiday season. Instead, those necklaces made it all the way to summer season. And, in the process, have also added a ribbon detail. Could be worn with a little black dress to a wedding or under a tailored blazer to the office. Love.
